Landmark Bank to Acquire Bank of Birch Tree

Mountain View - Landmark Bank has reached an agreement for the purchase of the Bank of Birch Tree, Located in Birch Tree, Missouri. Landmark Bank has filed for formal Federal approval of the acquisition and expects the process to be completed by April of this year.

“We’re happy to welcome the customers of the Bank of Birch Tree,” said Steve Vines, President Landmark Bank – Mountain View. “This gives us an opportunity to serve more of our friends and neighbors in the area.”

The Bank of Birch Tree began its history with the formation of Citizens State Bank in 1913 by Charles Bowden, whose family has continued in the organization. The seeds of Landmark Bank were sown in 1909 when Marquis Lafayette Landrum purchased the Bank of Mountain View. Ownership by the Landrum family continues to this day with Marquis Landrum building on his grandfather’s legacy. “Landmark Bank has a history of strong community involvement and support,” Vines said, “And we are looking forward to bringing that support to Birch Tree.”

“Our principal concern with the sale of the bank was the maintenance of an ongoing community focus,” said Katie Bowden, Bank of Birch Tree President and CEO, “Landmark Bank brings a hometown approach to banking that will strengthen the vitality of the area and serve the people of Birch Tree well into the future.”

After the sale closes in April, Bank of Birch Tree customers will be able to conduct their banking at any Landmark Bank, including the Birch Tree location. “We expect a seamless transition for Bank of Birch Tree customers,” said Vines.

When the acquisition is finalized, Landmark Bank will have 8 southern Missouri locations stretching from Licking to West Plains and east to Birch Tree.
